Led by the Contemporary Visual Arts Network South East (CVAN South East) and in a partnership between five national galleries, The Platform Graduate Award selects and celebrates works produced by recent

Meanwhile selected works, romotely planned the curation and then physically curated it in the gallery itself.
An extract from the official intro from the exhibition:
“This is an amazing opportunity for emerging artists to present
their work to a wider audience straight after graduation. The works exhibited demonstrates the variety of artistic
conversation in our local art schools. Experimenting with
materials, tackling challenging subject matters and working with
the local communities, these artists demonstrate how art can
help us view the world differently.” Meanwhile curation team

27th - 30th May 2018
Where:
Canterbury
About:
Drawing Edges is a cross-faculty, inter-disciplinary research group led by Charles Williams examining the question of how we come to know things through drawing, and includes artists, academics from several different faculties in CCCU and the University of Kent, and others.

Working with Drawing Edges was Meanwhile's first collaborative project. After curating CCCU tutor works previously on site in the Senior Common Room we were keen to again, show the work of these 'hidden' artists. These particular works were in response to the 'Jerwood Drawing Prize' which was simultaneously exhibiting in the Sidney Cooper Gallery.

Our hangings were inventive and playful whilst mindful of the small space. The exhibition was a 'pop up' so we wanted the short exhibition to not be forgotten

'The Imperfect Perfect'
The Corkboard Gallery

When:
March - June 2018
Where:
Canterbury
About:
It's important to make use of all available art spaces - both big and small. Therefore, we snapped up an available corkboard in the Sidney Cooper Studios in Canterbury to display the work of various artists - both students and established.
As the name of the ongoing exhibition suggests, the works were not required to be perfect or even finished. We wanted them to reflect a current snapshot of those who worked at the Sidney Cooper Studios.
The works were exhibited for one week only, creating a dynamic 'pop-up' series that varied from week to week.
Who:
Vicky Busby, Catriona Clayson, Christie Grant, Hannah Faraway, Kathy Goldsack, Nikita Lay, Rose West.

'Discarded Dreams'
The Beaney
When:
31st March - 13th May 2018
Where:
Canterbury
About:
'Catching Lives', Canterbury’s homeless shelter, has run a number of arts projects that draw their clients into expressing their feelings and hopes and have shown that this can give new confidence to participants. It has also discovered that many of the homeless have latent artistic talent that is looking for an outlet. This exhibition of their work is a testimony to their imaginations and abilities.

Meanwhile's role in this exhibition was to select pieces to exhibit, working to include variety but to also ensure that all clients that had created something would be seen and therefore heard.

We curated the show with both the collective and the individual stories were visible. Walking around the castle of discarded dreams, each participant could be informed and inspired by writing, poetry, paintings, drawings and sculpture that surrounded it.

Who:
The names of the 'Catching Lives' clients are private, however those who wanted their names in the exhibition signed their work.

'The On-Going Present'
Beach Creative

When:
20-24th February 2018
Where:
Herne Bay
About:
The On-Going Present was an exhibition dedicated to the NOW - focusing on where artists were currently in their practice, any medium and scale.

For Meanwhile, this was an exploratory project in terms of forms of hanging. The end result was a dynamic use of space and equipment. Yet again we used projection as a means of displaying 3d works which is possibly becoming a Meanwhile favourite move.

For this exhibition Meanwhile held an open critique which several of the exhibiting artists attended and spoke about their work. We also used this time to explain our curational choices and open the floor to questions and constructive criticism.

'Behind the Curtain'
CCCU Senior Common Room
When:
December 2017- July 2018
Where:
Canterbury
About:
An opportunity arose for Meanwhile to refresh a professional working space on the Canterbury Christchurch Univeristy campus. Therefore we thought it only right to display the works of the tutors and technicians of the University. Our aim was to include works of those who do not professionally in the arts to show the commonality of hidden artists.

A fulfilling, challenging project which required a balance of practicality and attention to aesthetics.

'An Interim Exhibition'
Strange Cargo

In association with Threads
When:
7th-12th February 2017
Where:
Cheriton
About:
Meanwhile's first project, an open-call exhibition that showed a snapshot of the work of local, national and international artists.

The media and scale of the works varied enormously so we decided to be inventive with our hanging choices, in particular we decided to project images of videos and digital works. A 'dark' room was created to show off the projections and a 'light' room held the wall works, sculptures and screens. This curation created a flowing contrast of spaces rather than a jarring divide.

An open critique took place on the 8th in which the exhibiting artists, curators and visiting artists could discuss works and ideas.
